Xamarin App Dev Conversations @ Ignite

28,000 people. That could very easily be the entire population of a small town. Microsoft’s Ignite conference in Orlando this Fall quite casually attracted 28K attendees – let’s just say it was a huge event. Not many venues can handle the scale of Ignite – no big deal for Orange County Convention Center. IT professionals and developers from around the world came down to Ignite to learn the latest technologies – all passionate and invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. Content presented at Ignite did not disappoint – attendees got to network directly with Microsoft engineers/PMs and get first hand look at innovations that will shape the Microsoft technology space. It was a good busy week.

The modern app development landscape is changing fast – with .NET Core evolving, ASP.NET everywhere and Xamarin powering cross-platform apps. And we at Progress will continue making polished UI suites and development frameworks to augment the app developer’s experience – you get to light up your .NET or JavaScript apps and ship them faster. Progress had a presence at Ignite, with Sam Basu and Sara Faatz as boots on the ground. With so many enterprise developers on Microsoft stack, it was easy to find folks who were big fans of Telerik .NET UI suites.

We’re big fans of Xamarin and continue our engineering efforts behind Telerik UI for Xamarin – a set of complex yet highly performant UI controls for all your Xamarin apps. It is no surprise that at Ignite, we hung out a lot with Xamarin engineers, PMs and University trainers – birds of a feather. Here are some short informal videos of our conversations with folks from Microsoft on Xamarin, client development strategies and how the cloud plays a role in modern apps. Hope you enjoy!
